When reading finally feels possible

Real stories of children who stopped shutting down, started believing in themselves, and discovered that they really can become confident readers.

As a parent it’s exciting to see her love for tutoring.

My daughter loves Ms. Nicole. She looks forward to tutoring with her, and enjoys the classes. She said Ms. Nicole, is kind, helpful and explains everything they are working on. As a parent it’s exciting to see her love for tutoring. Our hope is that she will learn to love to read over time. We are really happy with DysConnections and Ms. Nicole.

Thank you,

Naomi
He has NEVER used the word LOVE to describe a tutor's lesson

Thank you for the rundown of the lesson today.

I will be sure to have Gunnar visit and work within the google classroom before the next lesson on Monday.

I wanted to let you know that Gunnar has been in another reading/tutoring class for over a year now, all online, all via zoom. He meets on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays for an hour. I'd say this other tutor class has helped, but he hasn't come as far as I had hoped for given, he's been doing it 3x a week for a year. He said he likes that class, mostly because I think he feels comfortable as he knows everyone because he's been in it for a year. He is never excited or looking forward to it. I've seen his confidence grow but then he hits roadblocks. Then shut down mode happens.

BUUUUUUT, after his first class with you on 4/20, he told me, "I LOVED that class, I can't wait for the next one. Im really excited about this new tutor mom"

He has NEVER used the word LOVE to describe a tutor's lesson or reading of any kind.

I asked him, "why do you LOVE your new tutor class??"

He said, "it was the way Ms. Nicole (Mystical) explained and broke things down, I was really able to understand what she was saying, like these are things I know, but it has never been explained like that to me before. And my brain was just able to get what she was saying"

I just wanted to say thank you for such a positive first week of tutoring. We are both looking forward to more classes with you. Thank you very much for your time and detail with Gunnar.

She now appears more empowered rather than frustrated.

Ms. Tiffani has truly made a difference in my daughter’s ability to read and decode words. As she got older, the gaps in her reading became larger because of foundational skills that were never fully developed. Through the Take Flight program, Ms Tiffani has been incredibly patient and thoughtful in identifying and filling those gaps. She is teaching her a new way of looking at words that had never been approached in the classroom before. Despite the sessions being virtual, she formed an immediate, strong connection with my daughter. Beyond the academic progress, the biggest change has been in her self-confidence. Despite having more challenges ahead and knowing that dyslexia will always challenge her, she now appears more empowered rather than frustrated. She willingly participates in each one hour lesson after school. We are so grateful for Ms Tiffani’s kindness and expertise.

Saxton has shown confidence in doing things he usually struggles with

Saxton loves working with Ms. Kayla on his rhyming and cursive writing. Since working with Ms. Kayla, Saxton has shown confidence in doing things he usually struggles with. We appreciate everything Ms. Kayla has done for Saxton so far in class. It is so evident she loves what she does, and she goes above and beyond to make Saxton feel confident in every skill she teaches him!

Harper looks forward to going to class every time!

Harper has truly loved working with Ms. Kyla! We both love that learning is so hands on and not just using a tablet to teach. I have noticed Harper really sounding out words she is unsure of and excited to always try. Big improvement!

Ms. Kyla is so kind and patient and has made learning so fun! Harper looks forward to going to class every time!

His bright personality is back

Our last parent teacher conference had me in tears. And for the first time in years, those tears were tears of joy. I cannot thank Ms. Amy enough for the life changing momentum she has been in our son’s life. For the last year and a half, she has been not only my son’s biggest cheerleader, but she has challenged him in ways that previous reading programs had not. When he started with Ms. Amy, my third grader was at a beginning kindergarten reading level, feeling defeated at school, with the school pushing to hold him back. Which just didn’t feel right. My gut knew that something wasn’t working, but it could work if we found the right fit. Our fourth grader is now thriving in school, nearing grade level in reading, and his bright personality is back. For the first time at school, his teachers are able to focus on what makes him incredible, not just that he was falling further and further behind. In class, Ms. Amy encourages and supports him, but also holds him accountable. She has made the effort to get to know who he is as a person, and that has also helped spark his effort. She knows that he is capable and worthy, and she lets him know that not just in words, but in action. While I am so thankful our son is reading so well, I will forever be thankful that his confidence, personality, and zeal for learning is back. Thank you Ms. Amy!

He feels so much more confident and I love that for him

I could’ve cried telling you how awesome he has been doing lol. We are truly so thankful you started a program like this. It has been a huge learning experience and he has shown growth but overall he feels so much more confident and I love that for him. Thank you 💗

This is literally the only thing that we have had success with!

I don't love doing things on the computer, we honestly do not do a lot on the computer but we have zero complaints about this class on the computer! We have tried so many things over the years and this is literally the only thing that we have had success with! Elsie just this morning was saying how she felt like she was making so much progress.

He is visibly progressing and able to put together words

I would like to thank DysConnections and Ms Kourtni for an excellent experience in reading that my son Oisin has been having so far. Ms Kourtni has very kind, warm and lovely personality. Oisin enjoying every class. He is visibly progressing and able to put together words that were a great difficulty for him before. Ms Kourtni is always prepared for a lesson, very clear with her instructions and happy to explain extra times whenever it’s needed for my son. We are delighted to have Ms Kourtni as a therapist.

Thank you a lot!

My son is eager to join the classes, he happily sets up his learning area for the day

Dysconnections has been such a blessing for not only my son but for mom and dad too! My son is eager to join the classes, he happily sets up his learning area for the day and as a mom who constantly struggles for her son to do anything reading or writing related to hear the laughter and the happiness in his voice when he is answering correctly or understanding is just absolute JOY for me! I am so so grateful for Mrs. Bridger introducing me to Dysconnections!

He picked up a chapter book to read on his own just for fun

After struggling with reading in our homeschooling journey for over a year, I found Mrs. Bridger and immediately felt heard as a parent and a teacher. She listened to the concerns I was seeing and suspicion of dyslexia with my son. Mrs. Bridger did her own evaluation to see where my son placed with her program and provided me with results and how the program works. We have been working with her for about 9 months now and have seen drastic improvement in skill, but also the confidence in my son. She also does re-evaluations and sends them to me to check his progress. He is decoding and his comprehension is significantly better. For the first time ever last week, he picked up a chapter book to read on his own just for fun. Thanks to Mrs. Bridger and Dysconnections, reading is fun for my son again!

She was recognized for mastering concepts in reading just last week!

Dysconnections has been an integral part of my daughter’s growth in reading since she began over the summer. Our daughter went from scoring at low achievement in May to scoring at high achievement and growth at the beginning of the school year in August! She was recognized for mastering concepts in reading just last week! She has tutoring via zoom twice a week with Ms. Julie and it has been a great experience. Thank you, Dysconnections!

For the first time ever, my son has associated reading with a positive feeling

Dysconnections Virtual Summer Program has been amazing! My son gets very frustrated and upset anytime we ask him to do anything related to reading, but he actually loves this program! His teacher, Ms. Julie, is so warm, patient, and inviting. She keeps the course moving smoothly by having games and playful activities to teach each reading concept. Her approach makes learning fun and much less intimidating. For the first time ever, my son has associated reading with a positive feeling instead of it being tied up with frustration and defeat. The concepts taught in Dysconnections finally seem to be making sense in my son’s brain, and I can see his confidence grow with each lesson he completes. It is such a relief to know that he will enter second grade with this additional support and knowledge gained!

My daughter is now reading independently and enjoying it!

Dysconnections has been a blessing to our family! We have loved the flexibility of the zoom classes. More importantly, my daughter is now reading independently and enjoying it! She loves her tutor Mrs. Julie and has formed a friendship with her classmate. The lessons are challenging, but still engaging and fun! I would highly recommend it!

She has helped him understand things that he struggled to grasp in a traditional classroom setting.

Ms. Christie has made learning feel comfortable and encouraging for Cayden. From the very beginning, he has felt at ease with her, and he often tells me that he understands the way she teaches. That sense of comfort has been so important for building his confidence. Although we've only been working with her for about six weeks, we've already seen how much he enjoys his sessions and looks forward to working with her. The flexibility of the online sessions has also been a wonderful fit for our family, making our schedule less stressful while creating a learning environment that matches Cayden's personality.

What stands out the most is Ms. Christie's ability to explain concepts in ways that truly make sense to him. She has helped him understand things that he struggled to grasp in a traditional classroom setting. Her patience, kindness, and ability to connect with him have made a meaningful difference, and we're grateful to have her as part of Cayden's learning journey.

Sincerely,

The Bell Family
Mrs. Christie has played a vital role in boosting Julissa's self-assurance

One of Mrs. Christie's most notable contributions is how she has helped Julissa gain confidence in her reading abilities. Through patient guidance and encouragement, Mrs. Christie has played a vital role in boosting Julissa's self-assurance, enabling her to approach reading with a newfound enthusiasm and capability. We are so thankful to have her as a teacher.

Thank you,

I have noticed a positive change in Greyson’s confidence

Greyson enjoys working with Ms. Christie because she is patient, encouraging, and makes learning engaging and fun.

I have noticed a positive change in Greyson’s confidence, especially in his willingness to read aloud and attempt more challenging words. His reading ability has improved, and he shows greater enthusiasm toward learning.

Ms. Christie is special as a teacher because she takes the time to understand each child’s needs, creates a supportive learning environment, listens to their concerns about the kind of day the students have experienced before meeting with her and inspires her students to believe in themselves.

Alivia has grown by leaps and bounds in her reading journey

Before starting tutoring services with Dysconnections I felt completely overwhelmed with parent guilt in not knowing how to support my daughter’s reading journey.

I identified that Alivia was missing some foundational reading skills with word sounds and blending. Alivia would often feel defeated in class and withdrawn when it came to reading. My concern was that the gap would widen as time progressed if I could not find intervention.

Since June 2025 Alivia has grown by leaps and bounds in her reading journey which has been observed in the classroom.

Alivia looks forward to meeting with her instructor Ms. Christie! I seen improved confidence, skill, and comprehension since starting with Dysconnections.

Thank you for all your program does!

Ms. Christie has helped Thomas overcome his dread of reading!

As a homeschooling mom, I've learned it's completely normal and acceptable to seek help for your little learners. While my son Thomas has thrived learning all things, we struggled with reading. We also quickly discovered I was not the one to work on reading with him. I came across Jennie and her program DysConnections in the spring. It sounded like a perfect opportunity for Thomas to get more intentional direction from someone who was better qualified! Ms. Christie has helped Thomas overcome his dread of reading! We've done two sessions, and we all can already tell such a difference in not only his desire to read, but his growth. Choosing this addition to our learning has been a game changer, and I'm so very glad we are fortunate enough to be a part of it. We look forward to seeing the continuous growth and passion for reading from Thomas. Thank you Jennie and Christie for helping this homeschool mom see success from a different avenue!

She decodes and takes spelling tests with her class without modifications!

In one trimester, the number of high frequency sight words Abby knew automatically DOUBLED! She is able to read multisyllabic words, and she decodes and takes spelling tests with her class without modifications! DysConnections is a huge support to her academic process; the skills she is working on at school are some of the same things she practices each week with Ms. Marlee. Abby receives about 90 minutes/day resource room support for ELA and 90 minutes direct instruction math, so participating in something in class without modification is a huge accomplishment for her.

While preparing for a car trip this weekend, Abby on her own decided to bring books for entertainment and read aloud to the family! Going to the library has become something she looks forward to doing each week, and she will now look through books and read to herself. Reading of course is still difficult for Abby and she remains below grade level, but a year ago I wondered if she would ever be able to master chapter books and read for fun. Now I am confident that someday she will!

Abby has gone from lacking confidence with letter sounds to voluntarily reading books!

When Abby was diagnosed with dyslexia at age 6, we were hesitant about how much she would learn from online tutoring but wanted to do something to supplement the instruction she was receiving at school. Ms. Marlee has been absolutely wonderful to work with! Ms. Marlee has developed and modified lessons to match Abby's attention span and emotional regulation, adding "brain breaks" and movement when needed, and has developed a behavior plan to help Abby stay on task and motivated. Ms. Marlee is patient, focuses each lesson on the areas where Abby needs extra work, and always keeps a sense of humor. DysConnections developed a customized class schedule (frequency and length) for us to fit Abby's needs and abilities, so we now have shorter 30-minute focused classes. Academically, in less than a year Abby has gone from lacking confidence with letter sounds to voluntarily reading books!

In her classroom setting at school, Abby has been able to maintain pace with her peers with her spelling words. Her reading pace and accuracy is nearly as good at a second grade level as it is at a first grade level. I think the extra instruction from Ms. Marlee has helped keep Abby on a steady trajectory of progress.

There are many online tutoring companies; we are thankful to have found DysConnections and Ms. Marlee!

Marlee has given Cora this confidence to keep trying

"She helps me understand things better" from cora

"She's nice and funny" from cora

"She doesn't get mad at me when I get something wrong" from cora

I have seen Cora's self-confidence grow. She still gets things wrong, is not afraid to try and answer things now even though she may get them wrong. Marlee has given Cora this confidence to keep trying and be ok with sometimes getting things wrong and being ok with that.

Her improvement so far has far exceeded our expectations

Hey Friends! I just wanted to give a huge shoutout to Jennie Bridger and her group at Dysconnections. Amelia my daughter was struggling with reading this year and falling a little behind, we were able to bridge that gap and the Improvement that we’ve seen so far is so exciting!

We are ECSTATIC about Amelia’s progress with the program so far. Her improvement so far has far exceeded our expectations, and we’re only halfway in. My heart is so full- we’re so grateful to the hardworking team of teachers. I can’t wait to see the future results and how she grows next year!

If any of your kiddos are needing a little extra love this summer- you won’t be disappointed! Reach out to Jennie directly for more information

Choosing Dysconnections was a game changer

When Thomas first began Dysconnections, he really struggled with vowel sounds. He would often try to guess words based on the consonants. With the classes being four times a week and an hour a day, I've seen him grow in his reading. It isn't so much he gets bored or upset about having class. He has had two teachers and enjoyed them both. The discipline he has had to set a reminder alarm, and get the laptop and log in on his own has been so neat to witness. Since we began Dysconnections this summer, I've seen tremendous growth in his abilities to not only read but break down the word and go through the process of the vowel sounds. Before we started, I would often ask him to work on reading business and street signs when we were out and about. He often did not want to. Now, he is reading everything he can. When he sees any words he is trying to read them and tell us how he's doing so. He has been reading to his baby sister, and this makes him so happy. It is so special to watch. Knowing he can learn more about his surroundings by his growing abilities to read has been constantly increasing. I love seeing how proud of himself he is, when we are with friends or family and he can read the menu or advertisement. We definitely see less frustration in ordinary tasks. When he reads something so naturally without having to work through the steps has been so rewarding. Choosing Dysconnections was a game changer, and we are all loving the results! Every night before our prayers, we talk about our favorite parts of the day. When he picks his reading class, it reinforces that we made the best decision for him.

This class has helped her tremendously

From still struggling through simple CVC words in July to reading these sentences almost effortlessly, today! I’m so proud of Cora! Highly recommend Dysconnections for zoom small group tutoring! Cora doesn’t have dyslexia, but this class has helped her tremendously anyway, and taken the stress and pressure off me
